ORA GOTT

Source: Weekly Argus News, Jan 7, 1894 p 4

A distressing accident which befell Mrs. Ora Gott, the young wife of David S. Gott residing near Brownsvalley, about 10 days ago resulted in her death Saturday morning. She was engaged in her house cleaning duties and was working about the fireplace wherein burned several logs when the back of her dress took fire, probably from a spark. The only other person in the house at the time was an aged lady who could render but little assistance and Mrs. Gott was terribly burned about her waist and limbs before the succeeded in smothering the flames. While most paintful, the injuries were not considered dangerous until several days thereafter when blood poising set in with the result above noted. The deceased was only 18 years of age and had been married a short time. She was held in the highest esteem in her neighborhood and sorrow most profound prevails over the sad affair. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the old Presbyterian burial ground near Bornwvalley. - transcribed by kbz
